Senior Exploration Petrophysicist Working closely with the Director of Exploration and the teams Geologists, you will be an active participant in the identification, evaluation and execution of new exploration investment opportunities through your Petrophysical assessments and analyses. A professional Geoscientist or Engineer with advanced training in Petrophysics, the preferred candidate will undertake comprehensive Petrophysical evaluations that define the Expected Ultimate Resource (EUR) of a play trend through log & core analysis. Your industry background will cover the entire range of Petrophysical issues encountered from exploration to development including the design of well logging programs, quality control of acquired log data, formation evaluations of critical wells, creating final log curve for input in reservoir models, reservoir characterization, and determining rock properties for seismic models. Familiar with various software packages, you will provide time critical log evaluations for drilling operations while integrating your Petrophysical work with geophysics, geology and reservoir engineering. Tenacious, analytical and creative, your well developed interpersonal and communication skills coupled with strong organizational and project management abilities will allow you to contribute to and provide your expertise and opinion on a multitude of ongoing plays and prospects. Chief Geologist/Chief Geophysicist The Chief Geologist will be technically proficient and familiar with basin assessment, risk management and play and prospect development techniques. Ideally, your background will include a broad range of geoscience expertise including hydrocarbon systems analysis, sequence stratigraphy, seismic interpretation, geochemistry, reservoir characterization, proficiency with workstations and familiarity with a host of exploration and economic analysis software packages. The Chief Geophysicist will have the structural and stratigraphic mapping skills combined with a proficiency in utilizing log and petrophysical data in order to assess the quality, risks and potential of prospects. Additionally, you will be proficient with the latest technology such as modeling tools, workstations and exploration software including a range of geophysical techniques (2D, 3D & 4D seismic, gravity and magnetics, remote sensing) and their integration into accurate geologic interpretations. A professional Geologist or Geophysicist with twenty or more years of successful exploration experience augmented with post graduate training, both Chiefs will demonstrate a keen interest in developing, conducting and managing complex technical projects that could include: regional exploration analyses; exploration prospect generation; basin analysis; development planning; property evaluations; reserves determinations; and, operations support. Your well developed interpersonal and communication skills coupled with strong organizational and project management abilities and an extensive network of contacts from within the industry and throughout the regulatory, consulting and academic sectors will allow you to contribute to and provide your expertise and opinion on a multitude of ongoing client projects. Our client, a successful E&P Company with significant production and land holdings throughout South America, is seeking an energetic and experienced geologist to join its Exploration team as:
Senior Exploration Geologist Working closely with the VP Exploration and a multi-disciplinary exploration team, the Senior Geologist will take a proactive, hands-on leadership role with: the exploration for oil; the exploitation of the company’s operated reservoirs; the development of bitumen resources; and, the development of new exploration targets in other South American Basins. A professional Geologist with at least ten years of combined Clastic and carbonate depositional systems experience, the ideal candidate will be recognized for their creative and innovative generation of prospects which have led to hydrocarbon discoveries within the complex reservoirs and formations found within fold and thrust belt and foreland basin environments. Technically proficient with the integration of seismic and geological data in addition to conducting log analysis and DST evaluations, the Geologist will possess a working expertise with a variety of geological software packages (Petra) and geophysical interpretation concepts and be cognizant with all of the engineering issues associated with a prospects’ viability. Possessing well developed communication, negotiation and presentation skills, you will demonstrate the organizational and prioritization abilities required to analyze and evaluate the large number of exploration and acquisition prospects in a timely and confidential manner. Flexible, open minded and possessing a cultural sensitivity, you will display a mature, enthusiastic and participative work outlook in the achievement of your team’s goals and objectives by generating viable new exploration prospects in addition to supporting an aggressive development drilling program. Additionally, he has had extensive personal and consulting experience within the Petrochemical, Telecommunication, High Technology, Health Care, Manufacturing, Financial, Service and Not-for-Profit industries. Prior to establishing R.J. Derkitt & Associates Inc., Rob was the Director of Executive Search for the Calgary office of Price Waterhouse from 1985 until the spring of 1992 and successfully performed Search assignments for clients on the local, regional and national levels. Rob first entered the consulting industry in 1981 when he helped establish the Calgary office for Rourke Bourbonnais & Associates, a management consulting firm based in Montreal and Toronto which specialized in Executive Search and Organizational consulting. From 1981 until the fall of 1985, Rob conducted Search and consulting assignments for a variety of Alberta and National clients.
